Research

Scientific research is the engine of progress and development for both the individual and society, and is capable of producing and promotive well-being and social cohesion. The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at the University of Verona, through the Inclusive Humanities project, supports the quality of research from an interdisciplinary perspective, positioning itself as a productive bridge between linguistic and philological-literary studies and the most innovative perspectives of computer science and digital humanities.

The research will therefore aim to investigate, reflect upon, and promote inclusion. Research projects will focus on the fight against gender, economic, social, and cultural disparities both within the dynamics of the university, in foreign languages and literatures, and in external contexts such as the city of Verona and the surrounding region.

The research will also continue, building on the foundation laid by the previous 2018-2022 Excellence Project, to develop themes and solutions regarding accessibility in the university setting. Accessibility, therefore, represents a fundamental reality in the context of university education, whose objective is to create an educational environment open to and for everyone.

Among the research objectives is also the overcoming the digital divide, the gap between those who have effectively access to information technologies and those who are partially or totally excluded due to various factors, including economic conditions, educational level, quality of infrastructure, age, gender, and ethnic differences, and geographical origin.
