Month: November 2024
The photographic exhibition “E tu?” opens in Santa Marta
The photography exhibition “E tu?” opened on Wednesday, November 13, in the central courtyard of Santa Marta Campus, curated by Rossella Terragnoli with photographs by Francesca Castagnini. Part of the Festivabìlia 2024 events, the exhibition explores the intersection of affection and disability through images that capture and preserve sensual situations—whether lived or imagined.
Real or imagined stories… narratives… desires. Is there anything more real than something dreamed? In this project, the stories of interviewees, who were invited to respond to a common set of adaptable questions based on their willingness, are paired with images that encapsulate and hold onto sensual moments, without it mattering whether these moments were experienced or not.
The exhibition will be open until Wednesday, December 4, with free admission.
The photographic exhibit “And You?” opens on November 13
The photographic exhibit “And You?” will open on Wednesday, November 13, in the central courtyard of Polo Santa Marta (Via Cantarane 24, VR). Curated by Rossella Terragnoli with photographs by Francesca Castagnini, the exhibition is an integral part of Festivabìlia 2024.
The exhibit explores the connection between affection and disability through images that encapsulate and preserve sensual situations—experienced or missed.
Real or imagined stories… Desires… Is there anything more real than something dreamed? In this project, the stories of the interviewees—who were invited to respond to a set of standardized yet adaptable questions—are accompanied and crystallized in images that capture sensual moments, regardless of whether they were lived or not. These images represent a personal vision in which the interplay between affection and disability, fantasies, and reality emerges.
Viewing these images and reading the accompanying notes will feel like submerging your face in the waters of a lake—not even charted on the map of sensuality—beneath whose surface currents, whirlpools, depths, waterfalls, secret caves, and absences stir.
The exhibit will be open for viewing until Wednesday, December 4. All Festivabìlia events, available at this link, are free of charge and fully accessible, featuring LIS (Italian Sign Language) translation and audio description.
October 14 “SPACE INSIDE. STORY OF A COURTYARD”
Festivabìlia opens with La Difficilissima storia di Ciccio Speranza
The second edition of Festivabìlia – The Theater of Potential Abilities kicked off on Friday, November 8, and will run until December 4 at Teatro Camploy and within the spaces of the University of Verona. Opening the event with a moving and timely performance was the Bergamo-based company Les Moustaches with “La Difficilissima Storia di Ciccio Speranza” (The Extremely Difficult Life Story of Ciccio Speranza).
Ciccio Speranza is a young farmer who lives in the countryside with his father Sebastiano and his brother Denis, from whom he is very different. Adorned with a pink tutu but dreams dirtied by mud, Ciccio, due to his imposing size, is forced to take on the humblest tasks. Yet Ciccio harbors a dream: to dance. A naïve but powerful dream that makes Ciccio Speranza dance to share his story and his thirst for freedom with us. Accepting one’s life doesn’t mean giving up on dreaming!
Festivabìlia 2024 press conference
On Wednesday, 06 November, the press conference for Festivabìlia – Theatre of Potential Abilities 2024 was held in Palazzo Giuliari. The festival will take place at the Camploy theatre and other university spaces from November 08 to December 04 and it is organized by Teatro a Rotelle, the university theatre company, and the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures and is sponsored by the City of Verona and the ESU of Verona.
Festivabìlia, now in its second edition, offers shows and events that draw inspiration from stories and experiences that are apparently distant from each other, but which promote the concept of inclusion by widening its space, broadening the preconceived and limiting idea of disability as a physical deficiency to a any form of deficiency, loss or variation at a psychological, physical, anatomical or social level.
Attending the press conference were: the City of Verona councilors Elisa La Paglia, Giorgio Gugole for l’ESU Verona. The initiative was presented by Roberta Facchinetti, director of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, Massimo Salgaro, project manager for the Excellence Project “Inclusive Humanities”, Manuel Boschiero, inclusion and accessibility coordinator for the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, Nicoletta Vicentini, director, and Viviana Veronesi, vicepresident of the association Teatro a rotelle.
All Festivabìlia events, available at this link, are free of charge and fully accessible, featuring LIS (Italian Sign Language) translation and audio description.
