“Follow Fossy” introduced at Festivabìlia Coming soon
The presentation of “Follow Fossy: Accessible Tours Between Museum Education and Inclusion” concluded the “Festivabìlia Coming Soon” on Monday, October 21. The event was led by Dr. Anna Checchinato, educator and founding member of Oltre Magy’s O.d.V.
In collaboration with the Verona Natural History Museum, Oltre Magy’s has designed and created two accessible museum tours: “FOLLOW FOSSY: 12 STORIES TO NARRATE THE MUSEUM.” Promoted by Oltre Magy’s, a volunteer organization from Verona whose members have diverse professional skills and personal experiences in the field of disability, the tour was designed for visitors with mobility disabilities and today represents a significant shift in approach to make museum and natural spaces accessible to everyone, ensuring autonomy and safety.
Follow Fossy for Inclusive Museum Education
The “Festivabìlia Coming Soon” continues on Monday, October 21 at 4:30 PM with the event “Follow Fossy: Accessible Tours Between Museum Education and Inclusion”, which will take place in the Co-working room with Dr. Anna Checchinato, educator and founding member of Oltre Magy’s O.d.V.
In collaboration with the Verona Natural History Museum, Oltre Magy’s has designed and created two accessible museum tours: “FOLLOW FOSSY: 12 STORIES TO NARRATE THE MUSEUM.” “Follow Fossy” is a project aimed at designing and creating accessible museum experiences. Promoted by Oltre Magy’s, a volunteer organization from Verona whose members have diverse professional skills and personal experiences in the field of disability, it was designed for visitors with mobility disabilities.
The mission of Oltre Magy’s is to recognize barriers (architectural, physical, perceptual, and cultural) in order to make museum and natural spaces accessible to everyone, with autonomy and safety. The fundamental value of Oltre Magy’s activities is the Person, who is placed at the centre of every project. The emotional aspect thus becomes significant, so that every cultural experience becomes meaningful and unique.
Teacher training: towards (more) accessible teaching (Organization of innovative training courses designed for 1st and 2nd grade secondary school teachers)
This part of the project aims to organize training courses with innovative methodologies (which might be blended) designed for 1st and 2nd grade secondary school teachers. These are courses which also focus on accessibility and inclusion for those with disabilities. The course also aims to extend the knowledge and skills of foreign language teachers, who are interested in learning more about blended methodologies, intercultural and inclusive approaches to teaching language, literature and culture.
At the end of the course, participants will have been introduced to innovative methodological tools for teaching foreign languages and cultures, both in digital and intercultural terms.
Considering some of the issues related to the actual setting up of the courses in past years, moreover, the group’s first task will be to place greater emphasis on ways of publicizing the courses. The aim is to attract increased interest and consequently enrollment. In a second phase of the work, the courses themselves, and related themes may also be further explored through research.
