The third Food Talk at San Massimo

The third event in the Food Talks series took place on Sunday, June 22, in collaboration with Cinelà – Festival del Cinema Africano of San Massimo. Food Talks is a series of meetings conceived and curated by Chiara Battisti and Sidia Fiorato that explore the role of food and the distinctive features of different culinary cultures in novels from world literature.

The Cinema Teatro of San Massimo hosted Aminat Emma Badmus, who presented to the audience in attendance The Knowledge of Tradition: Food as an Expression of Identity and Culture. Through an in-depth analysis of significant works such as “So Long a Letter” by Mariama Bâ and “Egusi Soup” by Janice Okoh, Aminat Emma Badmus was able to highlight the deep connection between food, identity, and cultural heritage, offering valuable insights for reflection.

At the close of the event, participants had the pleasure of enjoying tastings of traditional Senegalese and Nigerian cuisine.
