Glocal Fiction in the 16th Century: Renaissance Novels from Local Shelves to Global Accessibility

The project aims to enhance the Digital Library of the “Progetto Mambrino”, a project that includes the publication of novels of Spanish origin produced in Venice in the mid-sixteenth century (1554-1568), with a focus on accessibility, interoperability and reutilization of the data.

The key objectives are:

  • Circulation of digitized images in IIIF format;
  • Accessibility of texts through downloadable and freely available “reading editions” (eBooks), with particular attention to visual disabilities;
  • Definition of ontologies for describing the bibliographic and semantic content of the corpus in preparation for the transition to Linked Open Data;
  • Automatic data export to major national and international aggregators and repositories;
  • Creation of digital objects based on shared standards according to the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable);
  • Dissemination to a wider audience, including students and global readers (with a focus on inclusivity).
